Thing 14: Delicious

Delicious is a social bookmarking site that allows you bookmark websites, retrieve those websites from any computer, and share your bookmarked sites with others. In addition, you can organize the sites that you bookmark by tagging them.

Let’s let Common Craft explain social bookmarking:

For Thing 14, go to the Delicious website at http://www.delicious.com/, and set up your own Delicious account. Performing registration steps 2 (Add Buttons) and 3 (importing bookmarks) are not required, but are strongly recommended for this Thing--you may skip over these steps if you like. When you are finished registering, please add at least three bookmarks to your Delicious by clicking on "Save a new bookmark."

Please make a post on your blog about your experiences with Delicious. Post a link to your Delicious page within your blog post.

Delicious is one site that I find very useful. The ease of use and being able to have access to your favaorites sites from anywhere is great.

Big fan! Love being able to access my bookmarks anytime, anywhere, on any computer.

I am lamcculloch on Delicious. I have over 900 sites bookmarked that I share with teachers, family and friends.

I am Aggiememenon on Delicious, though it has been awhile since I updated my bookmarks. I consolidated my bookmarks from work and my home PCs using Delicious.

I have heard about delicious but never really took the time to explore it. This will be so useful when I combine the various bookmarks that I have on different computers. Now to just correct those tags...

Number 14: Delicious. I can see where this would be very useful. I can't wait till I can add all my bookmarks at work and then be able to access them at home.

Thing 13: I wasn't able to totally figure out tagging. I have tagged photos before in facebook and have been tagged. However, this seems to be different. I didn't get much help from the information provided. When I completed Thing 14, I was able to tag bookmarks and I can see where that would be a tremendous help in organizing data. As far as library use, it seems that it could get cumbersome and overdone if anyone can add to anything. Maybe as I use it more, I will have a better feel for practical use in library setting.
